If you're interested in becoming a partner of our club we'd love to hear from you! Contact David VanLeeuwen (Partnership and Fund-Raising chair, djvanlee@ncsu.edu) or Chris Thunes (President, cmthunes@ncsu.edu) for more information.

If your company is interested in sponsoring our organization please consider making a donation to our University's Computer Science Department through the ePartner program. Donors can elect for their donations to help support student groups and programs, ours included.

Your financial contribution finances the construction of our robot Seawolf and helps us to travel to our competition held yearly in San Diego. We strive to be able to include as many people as possible in the competition experience, and any and all contributions help us to make that possible.

Building an autonomous underwater robot is not an inexpensive endeavour. We spend many thousands of dollars each year to construct and prepare Seawolf for competition. Here is just a few things your contribution could finance:

  • Electronic Components - Our club designs and builds our own custom electronics. Additionally, most of these designs go through multiple revisions. We may spend upwards of $1500 each year on these parts to populate our boards alone.
  • Waterproof Connectors - Our team relies on Fischer connectors to provide waterproof connections between our craft's electronics and devices. We reuse as much as we can year-to-year, but in some years may still spend as much as $500 on new parts.
  • Mechanics - Our robot must be completely waterproof and able to interact with its environment. Achieving this requires a robust mechanical design. Manufacturing these designs and the purchasing the hardware and components (servos, solenoids, etc.) to assembly them costs approximatley $500 each year.
  • Batteries - Our craft relies on both Lithium Polymer (LiPo) type batteris and Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries. LiPo batteries are smaller and preferable to SLA batteries, but are more expensive. Maintaining a supply of batteries in good condition can cost $400 a year.
